The History of Hydroxycut Issues

There have been individuals harmed by the dangerous chemicals in Hydroxycut since at least 2005.  The medical literature reveals some eye-opening research regarding the injuries caused by Hydroxycut.  For instance, there is a report of a 27 year old man and a 30 year old man who went to an emergency room complaining of eight days’ worth of fatigue, jaundice, fever, and vomiting.  These people were previously healthy, had not been out of the country, were not around other sick individuals, and had no risk factors for liver disease.  Except for Hydroxycut, they had not recently taken any herbal or prescription medications.

After extensive testing, it was discovered that both of the individuals were suffering from Hepatotoxicity, which chemically caused their acute liver failure.  The doctors with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation determined Hydroxycut ingestion caused the liver damage.  The doctors concluded that the evidence for the usefulness of Garcinia Cambogia, one of the ingredients in Hydroxycut, in promoting weight loss was not compelling and urged caution in use of Hydroxycut.  This was in 2005, yet Hydroxycut is only now being recalled and pulled from the market.

This probably comes as a surprise to many people that injuries were being caused by Hydroxycut as many as four years ago.  It is appalling that these results weren’t made public, people could have been saved from liver or kidney damage.  The most disturbing problem is that Hydroxycut itself didn’t warn its customers about the possibility of injuries resulting from the use of its product.  Instead, it continued to tell customers to put their Trust in Hydroxycut because of its fine, quality ingredients.  Ingredients that cause liver and kidney damage don’t sound like fine quality to us!

Hydroxycut Recall – Who’s Affected The Most?

Unfortunately, those trying to improve their health by losing weight and/or exercising may have been at risk the most, as this group makes up the majority of Hydroxycut customers.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned dieters and body builders against using Hydroxycut dietary supplements after it received reports linking some of the widely sold Canadian-made products to cases of serious liver damage and at least one death.

Hydroxycut is used by people trying to shed pounds and by body builders to sharpen their muscles.

At least nine million packages were sold last year, the FDA said.

Hydroxycut accounts for about 90 percent of the market for weight loss supplements.

Hydroxycut – Your Liver Can’t Keep Up

Hydroxycut is used to remove fluid from the body. With less hydration, fat will decrease visibly in size because there is no water in it.  The fat does, however, remain…it just appears like less fat. With less hydration the skin will cling more closely to the muscle beneath it.

It is not good for daily use, when the body is deprived of hydration the liver can not flush itself properly and a series of problems can begin. Over time, common toxins like uric acid can attack the liver because it can not be moved to the bladder.  This then leads to liver damage

If you’ve used Hydroxycut daily, and experience any symptoms of liver damage, consult your physician immediately.

The Cost of Weight Loss

Weight loss is never easy; it takes a lot of determination and hard work in order to reach your goals the right and healthy way.  It’s a struggle for many, and unfortunately Lovate Health Sciences has taken advantage of the public, but at a large price for what is represented as such a small magical pill.

Life threatening liver problems have been reported and linked to even the mere recommended dose for the many forms of Lovate’s weight loss supplements, Hydroxycut.  Several cases have been reported, at least one being fatal and several requiring liver transplants.  But the problems don’t end there; other reported health problems include seizures, cardiovascular disorders, kidney failure, and organ deteriorating muscle damage.

Unfortunately, advertising for Hydroxycut is very convincing; making consumers believe that all you need is their product to help you in weight loss success.  Just take Hydroxycut and the pounds will just melt off!  But have you ever noticed the fine print, the small words at the bottom of the screen that says “results not typical?”  This should be the first sign that the supplement cannot be trusted.

Lovate Health Sciences has been deceivingly making money off of the Hydroxycut for YEARS, and at the expense of the health of consumers.  And until now they have been legally able to do so!  This industry is unregulated, allowing companies like Loveate to put anything into their “magical” products, allowing them to immorally market these dangerous products, and keep their products on shelves nationwide.  Only when people die is something done to stop these companies from hurting more people.

Hydroxycut’s Effectiveness – Fact or Fiction?

Hydroxycut is one of the most popular weight-loss supplements available. However, even though Hydroxycut is very popular, there is a lack of reliable scientific evidence to support the claim that the supplement is effective for weight loss.  Now, as reports of Hydroxycut causing liver damage come into light, the lack of scientific evidence surrounding this product raises even more concern.

Although a few studies support the effectiveness of Hydroxycut, it is important to note that these studies are small and evaluate only some of the ingredients in Hydroxycut (not all of the active ingredients in the current formulation). With studies of such small size, it is possible that the results could be caused by mere chance.

As this new announcement about Hydroxycut causing liver damage unfolds, more scientific studies should shed light on both the effectiveness AND harm of this drug.

Hydroxycut Liver Damage: Hydroxycut Recall

A recall for Hydroxycut has been issued by the FDA because they have established a link between Hydroxycut and liver damage.   The warning states that Hydroxycut causes liver damage.  This is not the first time diet pills have been recalled by the FDA, but the Hydroxycut recall is particularly scary.

One person has already died because of the Hydroxycut liver damage. Other reports received by the FDA describe very serious side effects such as seizures and cardiovascular problems.

Bottom line: Hydroxycut causes liver damage.  A total of 14 Hydroxycut products were recalled on May 1, 2009 after reports of deadly liver failure and liver disease in people taking them to lose weight and build muscle.
